"My eyeshadow won't stay on!"

You ever spend 1-2 hours in the mirror creating this dynamic eyeshadow look that you are so proud of only to have it disappear before lunch time??? UGH.....That used to happen to me and most of my clients complain that this happens to them. One of the biggest reasons for this is because you are not "priming" your eyelid.

Most of us use traditional eyeshadow (not pigments or cream based products) that is, in essence, colored powder...LOL. Which means that over the course of the day the color will wear away. In order to give your shadow some lasting power, you have to "prime" your eye and give your eyeshadow something to stick to (and not just your bare eyelid...that ain't goin work...yup I wrote it just like that...lol). There are a number of products that you can use to do this. My favorite and the most inexpensive is E.L.F. Eyelid Primer (retailing for $1). I purchase this product in sheer though it seems to have a little bit of pigment to it, but not enough to change the look of your eyeshadow. I use this product on myself and my clients and it works great.

When I am creating more dramatic looks, I tend to use NYX eyeshadow base in skin tone or milk (retailing for about $6-$7). This product is thicker and has a creamer consistency. I normally go the NYX route when I am creating more avant-garde looks using bold colors. You can also use your concealer to act as the base for your eyeshadow. When you clean up your eyebrows with your concealer just blend the concealer down on to your eyelid and the then apply your eyeshadow. There are a number of other products by MAC, Urban Decay, and many other major brands that you can use, however, these are the three that I use and love.

Now, don't get me wrong, if you apply you eyeshadow incorrectly or use those little applicators that come in the eyeshadow and brush the shadow across your lid instead of patting it and packing it on....y'all know what I'm talking about..it won't matter if you applied a primer as the shadow will still fade.

It's all love...
