I'm no photographer...but I'm trying.

Look at me...showing off! Two weeks in a row and I am banging out another blog post for you. Now, y'all don't hold me to this just yet. I am just trying to get back in to the swing of things. Y'all know I go missing off the blog posts just as fast as I start...LOL...I know it's bad but at least I am honest. We can tell each other the truth here right!?

So listen, I purchased a camera about 2 years ago because to be totally honest, I got tired of photographers telling me that I did not have the rights to images of my work. Yes, I know it's the law but damn! If we are working as a team, I participated, and I give you photo credit why can't I just post the picture? I just went on a little rant there but this is a heart wrenching subject for me. And, don't get me wrong, I work with some amazing photographers who have blessed me with some amazing images that I can just post away with (Andre Dunston with Epic Media Photography, Dia Caster with PhotoArt Photography, Jazzy Photos, just to name a few); but when I first started I ran in to a problem with posting an image that I was given that really hurt my feelings. So from that day forward, I was determined to at least have a professional camera that I could take with me to take pictures that I can post.

Now...let's be really clear, I am not just willy nilly posting images when I am not supposed to. I adhere to all of the guidelines when working with other professionals and understand that many of these projects are time sensitive and the images can not be leaked. I get it! What I am speaking about is other occasions and especially occasions when I am playing in make-up and just want some professional shots to use. Now that we have cleared that up, let's get in to me and a camera.

I am not a photographer by trade and am not trying to be one. But, what I am learning how to do is to achieve the look that I want and have it come off the same way on the camera. What we see with the

naked eye is not always what appears in the lens of these HD cameras and I want to make sure my work looks great before any photo editing is done. I purchased a Nikon D3200 DSLR; and I am not going to lie, I did no research about the purchase. I watched a few Youtube videos and knew that I wanted to DSLR because of all that it could do. I knew nothing about the brand or the lenses or anything (don't do that). I went to Best Buy and they had a package deal going on for the camera I purchased, 2 lenses, the carrying case, and the memory card...and I purchased it. I got real luck y'all.

So now, I have just been snapping away and trying to create some magic with my own camera. So far so good...now if I can only get this lighting situation together and learn how to take pictures manually I will be good. To all my photographer friends, don't kill me...y'all are absolutely amazing dealing with these ISO's, apertures, lenses, and all the other fancy things that come along with using a camera. But what I will say is that having the camera has given me the freedom to do what I want to do, when I want to do it. The images are crisp and clear and my camera has been invaluable when in the studio playing in make-up or even when I am with my Brides on their big day, as not only have I been able to take pictures but I use those pictures to create a video that I can send to my brides as a gift.

All in all, I'm not a photographer...but I'm trying!

It's all Love...
